CRUFTS QUALIFIED FOR LIFE WORKING BITCH CLASS
CRUFTS QUALIFIED OFFSPRING
Emma is a very special girl as she is Bailey and Ebony's daughter and after losing Bailey and using his frozen semen, you could say she was made in heaven! She is our first completely home bred girl and is a result of our breeding on both sides and she goes back to Hazel, Megan, Bailey and Ebony. She is a very sweet girl and is happy and confident but is very laid back, just like her sire. Emma is very raw physically but has made a good start in the show ring. At the Manchester Champ Show 2018, she made the cut in a class of 20 quality entries and she has been consistently placed at open shows in large classes of quality bitches. After a year off to mature, Emma was back out in the show ring in February 2019 and she won the working dog/bitch class at the Cotswold & Wyevern LRC Open show. She beat her mum Ebony and she was also presented with the Abbeystead Heron's Court trophy. Emma was at Crufts this year in the working bitch class in the breed ring and we were also presented with her WGC in the gamekeepers ring. She took the day in her stride and was not phased by the very busy crowds or travelling on a packed bus and she loved being fussed by people all day! We are proud that mum, dad and daughter have now been to Crufts and are all home bred.
Cots & Wye Open show 2019: 1st Working D/B - "20 month Black bitch, useful sort, lightweight but well muscled. Feminine head with well-set ears, super reach of neck, correct depth of body to leg length. Well developed second thigh, tight feet, moved soundly and with purpose." J Keating
Emma has shown a natural ability for gundog training - she has plenty of drive but is steady and sensible, making her a pleasure to train and quick to learn. She was swimming and retrieving dummies from water at 13 weeks old and by 8 months of age she had retrieved cold game and was steady to shot. Over the summer, she spent weeks coming to the shoot with me learning to be steady around live birds and in November 2018 she had her first full day out on the shoot - where she behaved impeccably and even had a couple of nice retrieves. We are delighted that Emma has been awarded the KC Working Gundog certificate on game, aged almost 15 months old. In Sept 2019, I was invited to attend a walked up training day on partridge. Emma didn't put a foot wrong all day and she was good at heel, sat to shot and waited quietly while the other dogs completed their retrieves. During the day Emma had a few good retrieves and found a partridge that she hadn't marked in a field of maize. Emma has big boots to fill but she is doing a great job so far.
Emma has produced quality offspring to three different sires. She has been a fantastic mother and we had her Son Ollie here and we now have her Daughter Maisie here. Emma is now six and is looking great so we are planning to show her again this year with her daughter Maisie. She will go picking this season with Maisie joining her for a few drives.
